Flexible and Rigid Vinyl Flooring

2021 11/03

Types of resilient vinyl flooring
Before the invention of luxury vinyl flooring, homeowners basically chose three types of vinyl flooring, which have a certain degree of flexibility. Vinyl panels are commonly used in old houses and commercial environments, but VCT is a composite vinyl tile that is more advanced than peeling and pasting vinyl.

All of these styles are on sale today and are an affordable way to bring vinyl flooring into your home. However, they are not as flexible as modern vinyl flooring, including high-quality vinyl tiles and high-quality vinyl boards.

lvt and lvp are thicker than traditional vinyl flooring and resemble laminated wood due to their layered floor structure. Compared with traditional styles, the thickness of this high-quality vinyl is thicker, but their structure provides them with a flexible core, giving the table a unique advantage.

Types of hard vinyl flooring
When you hear the term "strong vinyl flooring," it also refers to luxury vinyl made in the form of tiles and planks. All luxury vinyl is flexible, and if it is considered hard, it is often referred to as EVP, SPC or WPC flooring.
This EVP grade vinyl design, the strongest style is called SPC vinyl flooring. It is an abbreviation for stone plastic or polymer composite material. This means that the manufacturer uses a mixture of limestone and plasticizer as the core layer.
This process strengthens the center of each slab or tile while changing the acoustic properties. SPC flooring, like many limestones, uses plasticizers and resins in the core. Since the solid core is very thick, this increases the weight of the material. The structure of WPC vinyl flooring is similar to SPC, but it has wood plastic or polymer core.

Limestone and plasticizers are still in use, but the SPC floor is a bit soft under your feet. These boards have foam added to the core and there is less mixing of limestone, so they are softer than traditional LVP, but softer than SPC core and vinyl. The difference in the materials used for the core material has a major impact on the sound and feel of the floor, but both styles are considered hard vinyl.
