For concrete subfloors and porches, make sure that the floor is level within the guidelines specified by the manufacturer for the floor you choose. Level any areas where it might be needed and make sure the concrete is completely clean and free of any debris. When you are satisfied that the subfloor is intact and ready to use, just follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing vinyl slab flooring on concrete.
Two other techniques to be aware of for this type of floor are the backing layer and decoration. High-end vinyl flooring can have pre-attached pads made of cork and other materials. Although cork is comfortable, it is not the best choice for wet areas. Instead, you need to look for vinyl floors with rubber or synthetic padding attached to the bottom.
If the patio has full or half walls, you will be able to find a way to fix the trim or skirting board in place. Although it adds a clean appearance to the finished product, it is also important to cover the gaps in the wall. For open porches with columns but no walls, the easiest option is to find decoration or molding used along the edges. As long as you keep in mind temperature fluctuations, you can use weatherproof adhesives to bond them in place.
